1) Cadillac SRX
2) That's about it.

Are there any of those left on the road?
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:43 |

uh...
this still looks better than most crossovers on the market.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:44 |

To my tastes, that’s incredibly ugly. Of course I didn’t like it to begin with, so maybe it still aged well, just as ugly now as the day it rolled off the assembly line.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:45 |

Looking better than a current model crossover isn't much of a feat.

Does it change your mind if I point out that it's a V8 RWD wagon?
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:47 |

I just saw one. That's what prompted this post.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:49 |

What was that about V8 crossovers based on sport sedans?
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:49 |

My cat made something this morning that looks better than half the crossovers on the road
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:50 |

It looks like a shoe and is driven by people dumber than shoes. It's the Infiniti G35 of the crossover world.

One thing that didn’t age well.......
Cadillac SRX's cam chains.

You crazy.

I remember one car and driver review when it was new where it had to be flat bedded away. didn’t bode well.

Nope. Get that out of here.

Mind the pollen. I just washed it the day before I took that picture and it rained the morning I took it.

Find me a high end car that isn't notorious for timing chain issues. There are none.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:55 |

What are you defining as a crossover?
Those are shit
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:56 |

No.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:56 |

Agreed 100%. The refreshed third gen still looks fantastic.

Unibody, shares a platform with regular cars.
Your opinion is shit
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:57 |

Yes.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:57 |

I always liked them, but they seem to have vanished around here. And a buddy of mine bought one new, it was pretty terrible unfortunately.

I am, bu t that’s not the topic of discussion this evening.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:58 |

They were also worst in class for driver fatalities and were still shit and ugly.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 18:59 |

Not at all. I’m not a member of the cult of the V8, and it doesn’t look like much of a wagon, though I do like the C and D pillar treatment here better than on the CTS-V wagon (which I also think is ugly).
I did just take a brief, yet depressing, look at the crossovers of that era, and yeah, there’s not much that appeals now. Maybe the XC60 or For ester? The Escape didn’t look too bad, but also looked like it could easily have been a late ‘90s Ford, so I’m not sure if that is again well, or just being very conservative with its styling.

![]() 06/22/2018 at 19:07 |

If the definition of a cross over is “unibody shared w/ another car” then I nominate the Volvo XC90.
It ran on the P2 platform and was produced almost unchanged (outside of drivetrain and some bumper tweaks) from 2003-2014. I doubt even Volvo originally thought they could get away with that.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 19:08 |

Its got no t iming chain issues is what its got.

No, the 1G SRX was pretty shit, from a reliability perspective.
Like-wise, I mostly agree with you, though the SRX does have some unflattering angles.
I think the Infiniti EX & FX have aged really well. So has the 2G Honda CRV.
Also 1G Kia Sorrento.
A lso Kia Borrego.
Also Suzuki Grand Vitara.
All of which were RWD, except the CRV.
Y ou know what else is not RWD? The 2 019 Blazer.

I always thought the Honda CRVs were not bad around 2011 or so ... do they count? Rented one in 2013 - bulletproof in a huge storm.

Let’s be real here, t he SRX is the peak 00s upper-class silver-spoon echo- boomer family car. It carries brand prestige in America but it looks like the result of a CTS having angry revenge sex with a first gen Equinox, t he interior was hot trash , it drove like a bloated Seville , it was hideously unreliable and it’s now the scourge of every buy-here-pay-here lot. The SRX is the automotive equivalent of the aging white neighbours that seem nice at first but quickly make you hate everything they stand for.

That still IS better than most crossovers. They were even fun to drive!

More accurately the second Bush administration but in car form.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 20:56 |

I might still have the issue of Car And Driver in which they explained that the ECU in their long-term SRX had shit the bed.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 20:58 |
|
So if I buy one I'm basically more patriotic than those guys that fly full size American flags from their lifted truck beds. Sold.

Blind patriotism is for fools anyway.

I like these. I liked these when they were new. I will concede that the styling has aged much much better than the CTS it was based on.
But most of these that I see these days have been run so hard into the ground, it’s hard to muster up any enthusiasm for them.
A client of mine drives one. It’s had a hard life.
The later sport package was tasty

I had an sg Forester and in here to say that one looks okay because the dark color hides all the ugly creases and angles

I forget the Borrego was a thing that existed.
![]() 06/22/2018 at 23:58 |

I don’t mind the look of ours, I think it still looks better than most closed off, high belted, no rear view current models.

Doesn’t this guy live in Martha’s Vinyard? He’d used to looking at rich inbreds in pink shorts. The 1st gen Forester is the best looking crossover.
